Abstract

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the changes in the nasolabial angle of the soft tissue profile after orthodontic treatment.
The lateral cephalogram was analysed in 60 patients, consisted of 15 Angle¡¯s Class I bicuspid extraction, 15 Angle¡¯s Class I nonextraction, 15 Angle¡¯s Class II nonextraction and 15 Angles¡¯s Class III nonextraction patients.
@ES The results were obtained as follows.
@EN 1. The changes in the nasolabial angle had highest correlation with the changes of inclination of maxillary incisors (¥ã=-0.74).
2. The nasolabial angle was increased 5.33¡Æin Class I extraction, and increased 5.36¡Æin Class II (Table 2., 4.).
3. The nasolabial angel was decreased 4.61¡Æin Class I nonextraction, and decreased 4.83¡Æin Class III (Table 3., 5.).
4. There was little correlation between changes in the nasolabial angel and changes in the mandibular incisors.
